New Way of Eating

I wish you could see what I ate for lunch yesterday at our University's cafeteria.  There is a chef that speaks English with us occasionally, often helping us identify the food.  Yesterday, he told us they had grilled squid and "blitva", which is basically made with potatoes, swiss card, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper.  I didn't take a picture of it, but I found these pictures online.

We also have a new found love for salads that are very popular in Croatia.  We made these dishes the other night for dinner:
  • Bean salad - We used brown and white beans with pumpkin oil (which is really good!), salt, pepper and a mild onion
  • Tomato/Cucumber salad mixed with Olive Oil, mild onion, salt pepper and topped with a Croatian cheese

That squid looks awesome. I've had some squid here in Korea, but it's usually spicy. I did have a delicious porridge (soup) of oysters, mushrooms and rice. Yum! It's so much fun trying new foods. I've even been using our rice cooker. Love it! But every once in awhile it's good to get a quarter pounder and fries at McD's.
